Windows to My World Art Journaling: Yes, Even More Pages

Here’s another spread from my class.

We were prompted to “say” something to the person (me!) we had observed through the “window” on the previous pages.

As I mentioned earlier, I had decided to use Scripture throughout this journal, so I answered the earlier pages’ observations of myself with Scripture, too. In John Piper’s When I Don’t Desire God: How to Fight for Joy, he quotes Micah 7:8-9 as ministering to him in times of darkness, so I added that to this spread.

One thing I’ve really been thinking about a lot lately is how easy it is to keep adding things to my life (you know, the whole de-cluttering thing–which, by the way, is going very well). I really want to make it a practice to stop, think and pray about everything I do individually and as a family and count the cost of adding that activity to our lives. Long ago, Joey and I were inspired to ask of everything we did, “Does this unite our family, or does it divide it?” This question has served us well for almost 25 years. Along the same lines, I want to ask of anything we add to our lives, “Are we willing to pay the cost?”

What I would change about this spread:

– once, again, improving the gluing;

– once, again, improving the way the art and words come together.

What I like about this spread:

– the colors;

– the way the paint and papers came together, overall.
